Catch Up

Hello fellow crafters. It's been a while. I thought I would do a quick post with some of the things I have managed to make in the last month or so! It's taken me a while to do these projects as I have either not had much time off work or have been too tired when I did! :o/

Here are my last two projects for Emergency Crafters!

****
I made these cards for friends.
These two are Kanban kits that came with their magazine some time ago.

This card I made for a friend who just managed to keep her job after having to re-interview for it. Scary times. The image is by Tiddlyinks. The paper is Doodlebug.

These are my art journal pages I have done recently. I have to admit I lost my craft mojo and just wanted to do these for some time.
I treated myself to the Dylusions Art Journal book which I LOVE!! These were my first two pages.
I used Dylusions Inks for the background, and did Dyan's shaddow technique with some stencils. Then I used a white Posca pen to draw around some of the shapes. The little images are Stampoutique Stamps! I had LOTS of fun doing this.

My Art journal pages are inspired by techniques by these 3 very talented ladies.

For this journal page, I was listening to my ipod on random. The song Somewhere over the rainbow came on. Sung by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. I googled the words to the song as I listened and came across an article saying Israel had passed away some time ago. So sad. He had such a lovely voice. So I did this page to the song. Dedicated to Israel.

This page was inspired by another song! Bob Marley's 3 little birds! I love this song it always cheers me up.

I did this page when I got my Stampoutique stamps. I knew I had to use this stamp and have their eyes white. I haven't done anything else to this page, I love it the way it is.

I hope you like!
Thanks for stopping by and any comments :)

Some bits n bobs

Hello.... Have had 3 days off work but have a bad cold so have hardly done anything except sneeze and sleep. I am feeling a tad more with it tonight, so thought I would post some bits.
This card is for this weeks Emergency Crafters Challenge. Sponsored by Lili Of the Valley.
The background is sprayed with Cosmic shimmer sprays and acrylic ink.
The image and sentiment, is Lili of the Valley. Coloured with Pro Markers.

I also wanted to enter some challenges. Over at Stampotique Designers Challenge, they are having two.
The first one is Weather, the other is Scrap it. For the weather challenge I decided to do a tag. This lovely Tiddlyinks image as she had an umbrella. I coloured her with Pro Markers. The stamp is sprayed with Cosmic Shimmers, and Archival ink, using Tim Holtz stamps.

For the Scrap it challenge, I found this pic I took some time ago. There is a photo a day challenge on instagram, and one of them is black and white. So I thought I could do this in black and white to post on there. (Not a prize winning challenge on twitter search octoberchallenge).
The background is sprayed with cosmic shimmers and perfect pearls. I used Tim Holtz stamps again and coloured the squares with chalk pen. The circles are acrylic paint and the words were made using Dymo jnr.
As I did this one from start to finish today, I would like to enter it also in to Balzer Designs blog.
"Art Journal every day'. I certainly try! Not always successful, but I try!
I would also like to enter it in to the Art journal Cafe challenge. 'Anything can be a stamp'. Well thanks to Kate Crane, I used various bottle top lids and the end of a pencil for the circles. I used the edge of a old card to stamp the lines (My gym membership card comes in useful for something!)

The next few projects were just for fun. I enjoy it so much. Obviously inspired by Kate Crane. I used a Stampotique image, coloured with Pro Markers. I used this bit of paper to spray a tag on. I really liked the effect so didnt want to waste it. So I sprayed a couple more colours on to it.
I used Tim Holtz stamps and Faber Pitt pens so do the borders.

This background was also done by Cosmic Shimmer sprays. Tim Holtz stamps. The image is Totally Gorjuss. It reminded me (if I was that cute) of me and my cat. The crown and wings are Tim Holtz grunge shapes. Covered in glitter and glossy accents. Images coloured with Pro Markers.

The background is black acrylic paint. With red acrylic paint on top. Another Totally Gorjuss image coloured with Pro Markers.

The next two projects are inspired by RachO113. Check out her blog and her you tube, her videos are amazing. One of her videos shows her making a tag. I didnt have the same ink pads so I used distress ink pads. Stamped on top and then drew the white bits with chalk pen. The middle clock is covered in glossy accents.

This is done on canvas. I covered it in paint and cosmic shimmer sprays. The swirl is Tim Holtz grunge shape covered in glitter and glossy accents. I then added turtle charms.

I hope you like my stuff. Thank you for your kind comments! :)

It's Been a While

It's been a while since I have entered a challenge!
I loved some of the stamps that Kate Crane uses in her art journaling! So I thought I would go on to Stampotique and treat myself to some!! Can't wait till they arrive! :)

I decided to enter the Stampotique Challenge. The theme is squares.

Here is my entry.

I tore up some backing paper which had different styles of writing on it. I stuck it to the page and then painted green interference paint over it. Then watered down black acrylic paint, and painted it on, then wiped it off. I stamped and embossed the stars. The images are from Tiddlyinks. Coloured with Pro Markers. The squares are made from shiney card with cosmic shimmer sprayed over. With Tim Holtz stamps stamped on the top. And of course some glitter thrown in!

Hope you like it! :)

Just thought I would add on to this post... I have found a couple of other lovely challenge blogs, and have done something for them too.

The first one is.... Art Journal Cafe. Hopefully I am in time for it, the theme is.... Save the page.
This page I saved from a sketch book. I tore it out and used it to mop up my cosmic shimmer sprays from the stencils. I then stamped a Totally Gorjuss Image and coloured her with Pro Markers.
I stamped with some Tim Holtz stamps (Ultimate Grunge) in the background. I drew ran drops with my Faber Pitt Pen and went over with glitter gel pen. Then I added Glossy Accents in the umbrella and the rain drops.

Also for the Art Journal Cafe, a new challenge came out today! The theme is Music.
I only finished this page in the last few days. I was listening to the soundtrack to Whip It. And one of my favourite songs on there is Dead Sound by the Raveonettes. I listened to it and decided to do a page on how the song made me feel, and the colours it made me think of.
This is my page.

The other challenge blog is called Balzer Designs.
The theme is September Dailies. Now I think you might need to either do a page a day or add a bit to a current page a day through out September.
I am not sure if I have understood this right. So ladies from the blog, if you look at this and I have the wrong idea, just ignore me! lol... It's all for the fun of it. I shall try better next time.

Basically I did a page on the last day of September, and themed it around September too, and what the month means to me.

I covered the page in different types of paper, I don't have any gel medium yet (its on the way) so I used Beacon fast finish decoupage. It made it quite sturdy and nice and shiny. I mixed brown acrylic paint with gold interference medium and painted it over the top. I then stuck on the different coloured leaves. I dotted about some pva glue on the page and then put gold leaf on the top.
I then wrote some journalling.

I also decided to enter the Totally Gorjuss challenge, which is Punch and Die. My dies cuts are very simple though as they are on a note book and I don't want them to fall off. I made this notebook for my mum. It was a plain kraft covered note book. I painted it with Gesso then with pink acrylic paints. I then used cosmic shimmer sprays over a flower stencil. Left to dry and sprayed varnish on it.
The image is Lili of the Valley and coloured with Pro Markers. The inside of the cover is paper also from Lili of the Valley. The die cut flowers are also coloured in with Pro Markers with glitter on top.

I hope you like my projects, thank you for looking and commenting :) x

Challenge Cards and some pics

Time for a few DT cards.
Firstly for Polkadoodles. Pop over there now, this weeks theme is doodled edge or border. I did mine with glue pen and glitter.

Next is for Emergency Crafters.

I have had some time off work to go to spain. It wasn't the best week of my life, had a few ups and downs there and at home. But I wanted to share a few pics I took. I do love it there, and hope to return soon.

I haven't done much crafting over the last few weeks or so, lost mojo amongst other things. But I finally received my kit from KanBan, so made a couple of cards with that. The patterned card is KanBan but the image is from Tiddlyinks.

This one is using the KanBan stamps too. Both images were coloured using Pro Markers and Flexi Markers.

I love Tiddlyinks digis, so here is a couple of cards with them. Coloured with Pro Markers.

I heard about art journalling a while ago, possibly from someone on twitter. I used to love art at school and the thought of combining paints and some elements that might normally be used for crafting, really appealed to me.
I looked at you tube for clips and got some tips. One girl said if you want to keep some of the thoughts private, write on the page first then paint over it. But I found it took a lot of paint to cover it. So I opted out of that Idea. Ill write private things elsewhere, and keep the art journalling a little more lighthearted.

I bought these DVD's which were brilliant. If you want to try art journalling, you should definitely get them.

Ill let you watch the dvd to pick up some tips but here are a few things I used to print the shapes on the pages, in paint.

So basically I have started two journals. One bigger one which is a Daler-Rowney A5 graduate sketch book, which I love. Its perfect for projects like this.
I also have a Rymans A6 leather bound sketch book. Not normally my choice, as I have used Daler-Rowney art products since I was about 12! I am now 31! But this little book was nice and compact.
I have used Daler-Rowney Gesso to give the pages an extra thickness. I then used Daler-Rowney acrylic 'System 3' paints for the rest. I love these paints, acrylic will always be my favourite painting medium.
The interference medium is amazing stuff. I used my finger to spread it over the pages to add a shine which changes colour in the light. The one I used was blue.

I then stamped the image on to my Create & Craft paper solutions marker card, which I love by the way for using with Pro markers. I coloured it in with Pro Markers and used distressing ink around the edge. Stuck it on the page and then used some more paints with the objects above to add detail around the page.

I did the same with a few more pages in the smaller book. I just spread the paint with a baby wipe and then my fingers to get the streaked look. I also used cosmic shimmer mist sprays to add shimmer to the pages, sometimes over a stencil. When I had finished the pages I sprayed Crafters companion iridescent glitter spray over the top as you know I NEED glitter on almost everything.
I have just done a few pages and will use them for inspirational quotes, we all need some cheering up and encouragement at times.

Last of all I used the same tips on to a tag and then stamped on the top! Am trying to take on board Lucy's words!!

Hope you all like my things today, thanks for any comments.
